I still remember the announcement for the new
Atlanta
VHS and laser disc release by Alan Douglas on MTV
sometime in early 1990s. I was eagerly expecting
it
and when it was finally released it was probably the
biggest disappointment in my life. I've had this
bootleg
for several years before the official VHS was released 
and despite of the audience recording and the
low vocals 
IMHO it preserves the sound and atmosphere of the concert 
much better than the professionally
recorded video and 
audio presented on the official VHS and laser disc.
I heard that Experience Hendrix is
preparing this concert 
for official release in the near future and I'm curious 
what are they going to do
with it.
When you listen or watch the Alan Douglas' VHS, Jimi
looks tired and uninspired. The sound is so dry
that
the impression is like Jimi is playing in a hotel room 
and not at the open air festival in front of 400
000
people.
When you listen to this LP, especially on a good 
equipment (good amplifier & large
speakers) the 
impression is completely different. Jimi sounds 
great! Check for yourself!
